Our trainers are proud to report that the training of the pigeons has all gone per plan and that they are right on schedule. They say that we have been exceptionally lucky to have fair weather; the pigeons are trained in optimal conditions.
The pigeons are in good health and are doing better and better on the training flights, at this pace we will be more than ready for the first Hot Spot Car Race. Our trainers feel that the progress of the birds will be good if the weather permits. The pigeons seem to have adapted well to the warm climate and the benefits of our new location reveal themselves day by day as we see the pigeons perform remarkably well.
Corrie explains that pigeons arriving late from the training flights are kept back a day to recover and then re-join the group to continue their training.
Our team promptly starts to load the pigeons on the convoyer at 5 am and then leave just before seven to the liberation point. Most pigeons arrive back at the lofts between 8:30 – 9 am right on time to get fed, keeping to their daily itinerary.
Willi van Beers recently returned from his trip to Germany, where he represented the SAMDPR at the Kassel show and the international Taubenforum in Magdeburg to promote the SAMDPR. He reported back that there is still a growing interest from pigeon fanciers to enter the SAMDPR, we are looking forward to receive the new entrants for next year’s race.
Paul Smith, our UK representative, promoted the SAMDPR at the Epsom Trade Show, Doncaster Trade Show and Telford Trade Show. He reported that the shows were a huge success and that there is a notable growth in interest this year from the UK.
