Winning THE national victory: easier said than done! You can consider it as the master piece of a pigeon fancier career and it will miss forever to some of the most impressive performing loft through the history of the pigeon sport. This dream became true for Sébastien Casaert last saturday.

The national victory of La Souterraine in the old bird category has been won by one of the most renowned fanciers of the Belgian pigeon sport. Sébastien Casaert is one of the best fancier of his generation and he practically won everything except… a national victory. Aged 43 years, he just achieved his craziest dream. Only eight months ago, his old pigeons were sold in a sensational auction through PIPA and his pigeons moved to the four corners of the world. However, it seems he had no down period. At the beginning of June, he already won a zonal victory from Châteauroux (click here to check the report published on that time) and now he confirms his skill with a national triumph…. brilliant! Clocked at 14h03”08 after she covered a distance of 522 kilometres, his hen achieved the average speed of 1,330.27 m/min, depriving Norbert Ally of a second national victory this season (1,330.01 m/min), the pigeon of Gino Clicque ended up in third place (1,329 m/min). The three first old pigeons were really close from each other, the difference between the first and the third being of 1.25 m/min!

From La Souterraine, the Casaert-Sénéchal loft booked a fantastic performance with no less than 3 different top 10 and 6 positions into the national top 100, the youngsters being on top of the bill as well

Victory of… ‘Victoire’ (BE14-1053206)

It’s a yearling hen who booked the national victory. Raced on total widowhood at the beginning of the season, she had been paired during the winter to raise two babies. Afterwards, she wasn’t re-paired again before the season. At the beginning of July, Sébastien chose a few hens to race them until the end of the season. She was only entered to some sprint and middle distance races. The day of Bourges II, she was entered at Melun (250 km) and she was paired after this race. After a week of rest during the disastrous race of Châteauroux, she flew Busy (220 km) the week before the basketing for La Souterraine. You know the rest of the story.

You must know that Victoire already proved she would become a top breeding hen as she is mother of BE15-1094016, a young hen in Roger & David Pierre’s loft (Pecrot), which was their 2nd pigeon from Argenton as well as La Souterraine.

The second yearling hen to be clocked won the 6th national against 2,548 pigeons. Her father is a very well known pigeon as it is Nikolaas, 1st National Ace Pigeon Longer Middle Distance KBDB 2013:

She also demonstrated she has some breeding skills. This year, she became mother of the 142/15, a pigeon who already proved to his boss that he could count on him after he won a first price and three different top 6. There is no doubt, the future looks bright!

2015

After the auction of his best pigeons during the winter of 2014-2015, there were many who predicted a difficult season ahead. Even if some imperfections happened, the season 2015 can be considered as a true success, even if it was excepting the national victory. In June, they already booked their first big victory with the 1st zonal from Châteauroux I and, one month later, the Casaert-Sénéchal loft already won each place of the provincial top 10. Not bad! Unfortunately, a lack of condition killed his ambitions for the long distance races from July. As everybody knows, working against the time is not a good thing in the pigeon sport. Fortunately, the first results of the young generation were quite exceptional with a total domination in their first races as you can see under this report. The future looks bright, there is no doubt about it. Congratulations!
