The pigeons from Brussegem really dominated the national long distance classic of Limoges II, winning the first four provincial prizes yearlings, as well as claiming the provincial first prize old birds.

Erik Limbourg is having another exceptional racing season. Two weeks ago we published a report on PIPA about the numerous provincial top prizes that the Limbourg pigeons have won week after week. All that was lacking was a provincial victory. They had been close quite a few times, and it would only be a matter of time before they could claim a first prize in an important race.

Impressive in Limoges

That well-deserved victory eventually came in Limoges, and it was not just an ordinary provincial first prize. When Erik Limbourg’s pigeons are in shape, there is a good chance that they will take home more than just one top result. Limoges was no different: the Limbourg racing birds have won the first four prizes at provincial level (yearlings), as well as a provincial first prize (old birds). This is what it looks like on paper:

Limoges
NW Brabant 358 yearlings: 1-2-3-4-8-9-11-12-13-15-16-17-20-24-26-27-30-33-… (34/45)
Prov. Fl. Brabant 742 yearlings: 1-2-3-4-12-13-18-19-21-26-34-37-44-56-61-65-69-… (32/45)
Brabant Union 884 yearlings: 1-2-3-4-13-14-20-21-23-30-41-44-52-66-73-77-81-… (32/45)
National 6,946 yearlings: 43-44-68-69-226-230-303-304-329-406-508-541-… (26/45)

Limoges
NW Brabant 166 olds: 1-2-18-… (5/8)
Prov. Fl. Brabant 384 olds: 1-4-50-… (5/8)
Brabant Union 507 olds: 1-4-62-… (5/8)
National 6,492 olds: 47-123-105-… (3/8)

These are the results of a grandmaster in pigeon racing, which Erik Limbourg undeniably is. It is also remarkable that the fundamental bloodlines of his breed are once again responsible for this impressive result. The bloodlines of Joost, Eagle Eye, Lucky 848, Blue Ace, and Lucky 77 have again bred a generation of prize winners and talented racing birds.
In 2016, after the weekend of 9 July, Erik has won 22 pure first prizes , as well as 25 top 10 prizes at provincial level.

It is clear that a new generation of top class racing birds has emerged, ready for another successful era of pigeon racing. Last year Erik sold his entire old birds team for the second time in a short period of time. The idea is to take a step back and to look for a new challenge, and the goal is to create a new group of talented young pigeons that can outperform their predecessors. This sounds almost impossible for a fancier with such an impressive list of achievements but Erik Limbourg still manages to exceed his own results season after season. His success story is the result of a lot of knowhow, experience and an outstanding pigeon breed.

Erik is set for the future with this new generation of talented young pigeons. In fact, his prize winners are likely candidates for the title of National Ace Pigeon Long Distance Yearlings later this season. And as you know, Erik Limbourg rarely fails to reach his objectives.
